A number of important tissues coming before Council today. You can read our full comments in our news letter coming out at 3pm today. (they will also be posted on our website). REINVESTMENT: Council will be discussing and voting whether or not to adopt a reinvestment plan outlining a goal and providing incentives for infill and redevelopment. We are happy to see a discussion about reinvestment coming before Council but we want to make sure a number of issues are discussed before any vote takes place including a consensus definition of revitalization, an agreement to no net loss of affordable housing, protection of neighborhood character, and a look at greenfield policies. MCMILLAN MESA: McMillan Mesa: Staff will be presenting to Council about potentially using a portion of McMillan Mesa for an Arizona Department of Veterans Services facility. F3 has not taken a position on this proposal yet as we are looking forward to hearing the details. But we would like to make sure Council has a process in place when dealing with donating lands. STUDENT HOUSING PROPOSAL: Council will be voting on whether or not to adopt the City Mangers recommendations for a student housing work plan. We have met with the City manager and look forward to the City implementing some of his recommendations. CITIZENS PETITION: WATER! A Citizen Petition to place the Principles of Sound Water Management on a future agenda discussion and a full public review of the Snowbowl contract renewal/rewrite. F3 also felt the contract was not a renewal but rather a new contract, which should allow for community input. MAYORS LIGHTING AD HOC COMMITTEE: As a result of recent lighting related concerns raised during proposed developments the Mayor will be requesting to add to a future agenda item a discussion about creating an Ad hoc committee to look at lighting. There is little information about the makeup of this committee and its goals so we will keep you updated. LOTS GOING ON IN OUR LITTLE MOUNTAIN TOWN!
