A number of people have been posting this recently, so I see it regularly in my feed. Of course hes a wonderful drummer, theres not much question about that. But as for this video conveying anything but the standard grumpiness and holier-than-thou attitude and frustration of musicians who are over-concerned with chops and other musicalities they find lacking in the majority of music they come across (and, yeah, Im mostly talking about jazz musicians), I dont think so. How anyone can glean something educational or worthwhile from this whine followed by a brag session is beyond me. Are there really THAT many musicians who are over-playing? When I go out to the clubs and check out the scene I usually discover that there are a lot of players who are actually good at using their prowess sparingly and with taste. Maybe Ive been checking out the wrong scene. I call douche.
