A number of people have been told the roundtable mtg video about the Dec 1st capital project was posted online...THIS IS NOT TRUE. There were 2 special mtgs scheduled dec1st. One after the other. The first was the so called roundtable mtg and then following a separate one (for some reason?) Where the boe was to vote on clarification of capital project parameters. The first mtg was a good first step for the BOE. It allowed the entire community to ask questions (unfortunately of only the atty, the architect salesman, and of a business lady unattached formally of our district? ) The BOE members only were present and listened to unanimous public outcry against the current project. It was a good first step. But to get anywhere more steps need to be taken..open, transparent , and accountable steps. So far those steps have not happened. The posting of this video, and neglecting to post the informational video before it crys foul and gamery. The informational roundtable video should at the very least have been given equal posting on the district websites front page as the sales video from the private architect. For anyone looking at this video I encourage you to call the Holland School District Superintendent Cathy Fabiatos at 537-8222 and ask WHY the video is not posted. Also consider the reason it isnt...it clearly shows an informed and involved community that objects to the project. These community folks in the missing video are not the go with the flow , silent, and just vote what the book cover suggests. They brought up very pertinent information. One was a teacher who as we all know spoke of the current configuration crowding harmong our childrens education. Another a businessman asking why the BOE chose to reject and ignore the Glose Report which studied in detail and recommended action..action the board chose to do the opposite of a few yrs ago...another community member asked why the brick wall of communication/transparency/ accountabilty? It only creates division and distrust and disharmony? Another questioned the attourney about his investigation of the ms bldg closure issue only to get him to admit the bldg was not and is not closed..it can be moved back into as soon as next year..and aid for future repairs he believes after only looking at some of the documentation may not be available. All these things scream vote no from the community. So why is this video missing? Hmmm I wonder. This book needs reading for one of the largest capital projects in the districts history. Dont vote by the cover..as even our current board members now have to admit..the information they have been handed down was wrong and the decisions and votes they made following it would have been different. Ask questions people.
