A number of times as an Instructor I am called upon to do things that some would argue are outside the remit of my job. Be it helping with simple personality clashes or deeper issues with students struggling to make sense of things affecting everyday life. I feel that as an Instructor the extension of the influence I can have outside of Martial Arts is every bit as important. Regardless of whether a student stays in my class or not if I can do one thing that has a positive outcome for that person then I have succeeded in making a difference that just might change the course of the students life for the better. Not everything is solved by punching or kicking better. Sometimes as an Instructor we have to listen to our students and give the help they truly need regardless of the financial outcome to the club. Trust and respect is so hard to earn but all too easy to lose.
