A number of years ago, I experienced a very profound shift in my experience of reality. It came when suddenly, like a ton of bricks, it dawned on me that EVERYTHING IS SOUND. Not only that, but we dont just hear with our EARS and BRAIN, but with our ENTIRE BODY. This epiphany has profoundly changed my life. It has changed the way I... Experience sound Relate to sound Make sound It has also changed the way I experience Physical matter In short, matter doesnt seem so solid to me anymore, and therefore, neither do the things that Im experiencing in life. Things have more ease, flow, grace, when I look at them as vibrational and responding to vibration, instead of hard and immutable. This realization also gives the word harmony an entirely different meaning. I now understand that I can literally create more beautiful harmony with my internal and external environments, simply through conscious use of sound and vibration! Its tough to explain exactly what I mean by that, but heres a great example: In the Singing For Your Soul studio, the singing room has ended up becoming a magical, vibrational extravaganza. This was entirely unintentional on my part, but it seems that often, powers with far wider vision than my human awareness, are guiding this life experience (right?!). So in this instance, I have ended up with Tibetan singing bowls in one corner, frame drums on the wall, and harps in two other corners. When a clients voice really starts to get RESONANT, EFFICIENT, and JUICY, those instruments start getting all titillated. In other words, they get excited by the sound waves created by our voices, and start sympathetically VIBRATING and making their OWN HARMONIOUS MUSIC! Its so cool, and the best example I can give of the fact that... WE CAN AFFECT OUR PHYSICAL WORLD BY THE SOUNDS WE MAKE!!! AND... OUR PHYSICAL WORLD AFFECTS US BY THE SOUNDS THAT IT MAKES. Its a symbiotic relationship. Sometimes the sounds we are making or exposed to have more positive affects, other times, not so much (think car alarms and how your body coils in response). If youre ever being bombarded by sound thats making you uncomfortable, try humming to yourself. It will help mitigate the disharmonious vibration, and help your body stay in better balance. We can literally dance with the sounds of our own bodies and of our physical environments. Play with it! Have fun with it! Its such an amazing exploration!
