A parent asks our group: Has anyone experienced their sensory child feeling the urge to urinate frequently? My sensory defensive little girl (4yo) goes through phases each winter of wanting to go to the toilet all the time. She then feels wet after toileting and will use up loads of toilet paper trying to dry herself. She gets extremely upset and agitated by it. We have had her checked for UTIs and it has come back all clear. I came across something called interoceptive defensiveness and wonder if this could be it. Her OT thinks this is highly possible and it flares up in winter because she is in more of a disregulated state as the change of season is tough for her (she does not like to wear long pants and shirts, socks and closed shoes). I just wondered if anyone else out there has come across this and how you have dealt with it? Thanks
