A parent asks our group: I have a question about reading.I have a 5 1/2 yr old micro-preemie with hydrocephalus,spd and cp. she just had her 15th brain shunt revision.Shes in a private preschool but isnt with special kids. Shes in a mainstream classroom with 15 other 4 and 5 yr olds. Shes developmentally delayed and is not picking up academics at all. She doesnt have the categorization. She doesnt know a number from a letter. BUT she wants to learn so badly. I wonder if there are others with her same issues who could give insight as to when your kids picked up letter/number recognition? I realize it mostly depends on the child. just needing to know its not impossible.some days I wonder if itll ever click.
