A parent asks our group: Looking for a bit of advice/support. Our son is 8 and was diagnosed SPD a few months ago. He may also have NVLD. He sees an OT once a week (outside of school). Hes been struggling at school and weve been working to get him on a 504, we had a team meeting 2 months ago, the school Psychologist and OT were both going to conduct evaluations of him and do classroom observation. Our next meeting is Tuesday and they have yet to share any information with us, no copy of the evaluation, they wont tell us if they even recommend a 504 for him. We are completely frustrated with the lack of communication. A few weeks ago I asked for a status update and was only told that we would receive a copy of the evaluation before the next team meeting. Im still crossing my fingers that we will get it today so I can have the weekend to review and take notes before the meeting. Is this normal process? Fortunately our outside OT has been incredibly supportive and provided her evaluation and another written letter today detailing all the signs she sees of NVLD and what accomodations he needs. Just feeling a bit lost and want to help our son as much as possible.
