A parent asks our group: My 2 year old daughter has been described as having sensory processing disorder issues by an OT, speech pathologists and early intervention teachers. We are doing a Sensory diet and play speech therapy. One part of her therapy involves stimulating her vestibular system by swinging on swings or in a sling. She loves it and didnt want to stop. Afterwards, she engages with us more, but she also can be physically aggressive by biting, scratching or pinching us. Usually she goes for our faces without much warning.Time outs really dont work with her because I dont think she understands. I just dont know what to do to stop the behavior. In some ways, she is engaging with us (positive) but she is hurting us (negative). Anyone else ever deal with this? Suggestions on how to handle it?
