A parent asks our group: My son will be 5 soon and Id like to know if this is sensory processing disorder, he is very jealous with his sister he can push her to make her fall and grab her by the clothes, he doesnt like her toys, he doesnt like noises like the one of the fire truck or the whistle of the water boiling, he doesnt want people singing or whistling, although he used to sing a lot a loved songs, sometimes he cries at birthdays of friends (when I tell him at home not to cry he doesnt), until now I couldnt celebrate a birthday for him because he would cry when it comes that song, he doesnt like textures and doesnt eat fresh fruits but the liquid juice, specially from orange or mandarin, he only would eat with his hands and only like to eat meat, fish and chicken. He used to eat mainly yogurt and crackers but he started with allergy to milk and wheat and we had to remove those, he accepted it and he says they are not good for me, I have to repeat him over and over a question to get an answer from him because normally he is very distracted, he says hello to children but he doesnt stay with them, thought he likes to have them around, he still uses a nappy to sleep, he doesnt grab well a pen yet, he smells everything before eating it, he has trouble staying sitting on a place and sometimes he makes the same question to hear the same answers. Id like to know your experiences with this, what therapy worked the best for you and what kind of diagnoses did you get. Thank you.
