A parent from the school has contacted me but wishes to remain low-key. They will be presenting at the May 6th school board meeting regarding their concerns about construction workers on school property. It turns out that they DO NOT need security checks. These people are on school property, during school hours, in close contact with students and do not need any form of police check. This poses a potential safety concern for our children. The school board and school administration have not viewed this as a valid concern. This parent would like more parents to contact the school board, and to attend the meeting so that the board can see that this is a concern for more than one parent. Im assuming that there has been very little question regarding this due to an assumption that these workers are cleared before working on school sites.
