A pastor friend of mine shared this on their facebook page today and I want to share it here, because I think it is important and well stated....One statement I wish Christians would stop using? Ill pray/be praying for you. Nothing says Im trying to act concerned while brushing you off like making a future tense promise to pray that often in reality seldom actually happens. It has become the how are you doing statement that strangers exchange at grocery stores - a statement that sounds like you have mild concern and a certain level of politeness, but no one expects or even really wants a real answer to that question in return. Because prayer is so vitally important and powerful - lets bring it in to the present. When someone shares something with you that you feel needs Gods touch - rather than saying the typical lame cliche - change that statement to Can I pray (or lets pray) for you right now?. That speaks faith, confidence and power. Our God is a now God. Hes ready to act now. Gods people must begin to put themselves out there - put your faith to work and watch what God does!
