A pensive Sunday for me today. I am awed at how people whom you have helped a lot since childhood can be strangely ungrateful. Yes, the wife was a ward of ours since she was nine until college. I consider her my elder child. The husband has all our support for almost all the things he needs in his trade. When time came that we wanted to continue hiring his paid services using our own equipment under his care, he refused due to some domestic issues he and his wife created back in Bonoanon. But since we really have to use the welding machine, bar cutter and sander, among others, I called the husband up to request for his services and the equipment. But to my surprise, he proved disrespectful even to me who has always been detached to domestic issues. He shouted at me and even challenged me to a fight but with his phone already shut off. I was told that is how he treats my just widowed mother-in-law who has always been a real parent to them---even depriving her of her most basic needs. I have the equipment now subject to tests as some parts he claims as his were removed before I was allowed to borrow my own equipment. Some other things we provided them before are now being returned to us one by one, probably as a gesture to cut whatever connection they have to us. Of course it was never our intention. Unfortunately, however, they cant return everything as not all things are physical. The intellectual, molar and moral things can never be returned. These possessions are theirs to use for as long as they live. Though I am hurt, I am still happy I had the opportunity to be a part of their lives. I pray for their success. :)
