A perennial favourite amongst Klang valley cyclists due to the low traffic, cool weather & fresh air. A nice 5km warm-up before a gradual climb up to Genting Sempah peak (mechanic shop). From there, we recover on a fast downhill at GS Rest Area until we turn right into Janda Baik. We will re-group n refuel at Janda Baik before heading back to our cars. What’s not to like? Cool air, low vehicular traffic & plenty of greenery. Time: 7:30 am (please be there 15 minutes before) Date: Sunday (October 5th, 2014) Start/ End: AWE Sup Power food court, Gombak (in front of Sekolah Menengah Teknik Gombak, Jln Sg. Pusu, Off Jln Gombak) GPS: N03deg 14.757’E101deg 43.643’ Directions: Go to Google Maps Malaysia & search under “Sekolah Menengah Teknik Gombak”. Head to Jalan Gombak as usual (if coming from Kepong, exit the MRR flyover after Batu Caves temple & go straight along Jln Batu Caves. Do not follow the flyover to Karak Hwy). Reset your car distance meter when you turn left at the mosque on Jln Gombak. Drive 2.2km until u see a traffic light & take a right turn into Jln Sg Pusu. At 3.1km you see Sekolah Menengah Teknik Gombak on your right. U-turn and you’re there! Park at AWE Sup Power food court, just next to the entrance of the school. Please DO NOT PARK in front of shops, instead go to the back. There is ample parking space. Route: AWE-GSRA roundabout (first re-group)- Janda baik (second re-group)- AWE (74.0km) Notes: Helmets are compulsory. Do bring along a spare tube, hand pump, 2 full water bottles, hand phone & cash. Careful of lorries, especially at switchbacks, they will occupy the 2 lanes. When in doubt, give way to lorries. Also, the exit out of Janda Baik is a fast and sharp left corner, so please exercise caution. Roads are in generally good nick, some switchbacks might be sandy due to rain.
