A perfectly normal day could have been Carl Borgquist’s last if not for the quick thinking of citizen Todd Naffziger and the thorough follow through of Bozeman Fire Captain/Medic Steve Drab and his crew. Carl is a fit, active man who was working out at the 4800 Gym when fate struck, he collapsed and his heart stopped beating. Thanks to the use of citizen CPR training performed by level headed bystander Todd Naffziger, Carl was provided help immediately. Only a short four minutes later, Fire Captain Steve Drab and two other fire personnel arrived on the scene. Seeing the fantastic job Todd was doing performing compressions, they were able to hook up monitors and other gear before taking over and shocking Carl’s heart back into gear. Carl and his wife and kids are so thankful that Todd took a half hour out of his life to learn CPR so he could save the life of another and thankful for the quick, professional response of Steve Drab and the Bozeman Fire crew. Congratulations to both Todd Naffziger and Fire Captain Steve Drab who were honored recently at the Rotary Gavel Dinner and Awards Banquet for saving Carl’s life. A heartwarming video of this story can be seen below, please take the time to watch AND the time to learn CPR! Help a husband, wife, dad, mom brother, sister and their kids live life to the fullest. Please learn CPR and have a safe weekend. C Shift will be on 48hrs Sat 7am-Mon. 7am
