A person inboxed me.. Salaam sister.. Wats ur opinion about 20 rakaah of taravih?... Drfarheen Khan Wa alaykum assalaam.. Any amount can be prayed after isha and before witr in the complete night.. Sunnah is 8.. More than this any amount will be nafl and permissible.. Person: Isnt it a biddah acrdng to ahle hadees fellows if we perform 20...one ahle hadees person called it bidaah of hazrat Umar...can a sahaba lyk hazrat Umar (ra) support any biddah or biddat or wteva?.. We have been brought with the teachings like iblees use to run away wneva he saw hazrat Umar coming... Drfarheen Khan I told you any amount can be prayed after isha and before witr.. 8 is prophets sunnah.. More than 8 any amount will nafl.. And fixing it on 20 is indeed biddah.. If you want to perform more than 8 then why only 20 ? Why not 16,18,22, 24...etc If hazrat umar r.a said 20, his opinion cannot supercede prophet pbuhs actions and sunnah..
