A personal message from Jerry DePizzo: Im on the LIRR heading - TopicsExpress

A personal message from Jerry DePizzo: Im on the LIRR heading out to Long Island today. Im going to meet my wife and daughters there and spend our Thanksgiving with friends. Im not going home. Im nowhere near where I grew up or where my bills go. As the train slows at each station, Im getting closer to my stop and farther from my turkey day tradition. Im improvising, creating new traditions. The band spent a better part of a year writing a record capturing what home means to us and this entire last year telling you about it. The Rockville LP is our love letter to the bands hometown. The tree-lined streets, lamp-lit driveways, and manicured lawns were the landscape from which the band created the soundtrack to its youth. We play many of those same songs every night. The spirit of wonder and adventure remains even though the scenery changes. Family is still whats most important. Its what fuels the bus and the songs. As our lives progress and take us farther away from where we grew up, our families have grown to include each other. Im thankful for that. The band goes back to NYCs Hammerstein Ballroom tomorrow and Saturday for the first time in quite a long time. We are known for our MSG performances but we built our New York audience on Thanksgiving weekends at the Hammerstein. I look forward to walking back into that building and feeling that same energy and creative spirit. We will be celebrating our history while always looking towards our future, improvising and creating new traditions. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ill see you at the Hammerstein and in 2015. Gobble Gobble, Jerry
