A personal story: When I was 10 (and was the cloakroom girl hanging coats at NAACP meetings in Providence, RI) I begged my parents to let me march with civil rights groups and Martin, and asked my parents to find me a chaperon --- this was well before this great speech. (I had first hand experience with antisemitism from the age of 4, which opened my eyes and heart about discrimination.) It would have been dangerous for me as a child to go down South, so being concerned parents, my urgent request was denied. We have so far to go regarding all humans as a family. I mourn for the Nigerian atrocity. Humankind is such a mixed bag: There are the enlightened, loving, creative beings intent on making things better, then there are people who just want to get by in their normal (whats that?) world but close their eyes, and then there are some absolute crazies or people encased in ignorance. It takes real COURAGE to face this strange jigsaw puzzle and still create loving art and music --- but it is my Dream! (Thank you, Byron Adams for posting.)
