A pickle-seller foils a robbery at the Troy Farmers Market. Ben Hillis was manning the Puckers Gourmet booth selling pickles and pickled cabbage when someone tried to distract him while another person took off with his cash. Hillis chased after him and other vendors helped to corner the suspect. Hillis says he was able to recover the stolen cash, roughly $1,000. Hillis said, Obviously you feel violated, you feel a little bit angry that someone would come and just try to take from you something that youve worked so hard for. We spend all week making these products to vend and sell. For someone to just walk by and try to take everything Ive made for the week is kind of disheartening. Its just sad that some people think thats an acceptable way to act. Puckers Gourmet is a business in Salem, Washington County. The Troy Farmers Market, and the pickle booth, are open Saturdays from 9 until 2 in downtown Troy.
