A poem I wrote as I went in for my morning prayer The Dark before Dawn You stir because the angels sweep The sleep dust from your eyes You stretch and wipe a corner that was left there by surprise As they scuttle about to comfort you For an extra snooze or two Some fly around to kiss goodbye Before the dawn comes through Your morning angels carry gifts Of kisses, laughter too With loads of hugs for the family And energy to cook them food But, before they pass out anything The first thing on their minds Is that you exhale to inhale Lifes gift from God on high As the words of Yes and Thank You Lord Spill from your river of praise The Holy One waves His hands Releasing Love to fill your day Mixing gentleness, goodness, joy, and peace In a smile of assurance your way With Jesuss yes, and Gods nod You automatically kneel and pray The dark of dawn Has shift to light And in place Gods laid His plans for your life Now greet our Savior as you kneel to pray Good morning God Good morning Jesus Good morning Holy Spirit Good day! Ecclesiastes 9:11 11 I returned and saw under the sun that— The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.
