A poem dedicated to all those who have left domestic violence but still struggle with forgiving the abuser. This poems reveals the fate of the abused who is able to forgive the abuser yet the abuser refuses to repent and does not stop the abuse. ~ Donna No Escape Crushed heart Shattered soul Nothing left I paid the toll Isolated mind Tears in the night Silent screams Disturbing fights Extreme anxiety Desperation Frantic planning No consolation Augmented scenes An abuser’s side Twisted truth Bruises hide My secret life of Domestic violence I forgive you now And trust God above To issue true judgment For those that He loves Stripped of your power Your pride so debased When God issues judgment You’ll fall to your face Justice will shine On the ROCK I’ll stand Before God in judgment Healed by His hand My prayers were heard For every single day Of abusive cruel words God wipes my tears away My secret life Of domestic abuse In anger my Jesus Steps from His throne Hides me under His love You’ll face God alone Naked in your shame In powerless silence God heard my cries Of abusive violence God’s saw your abuse You twisted thing Your lies won’t work God sees everything His justice is pure His sentence is right He’ll toss you in Hell I’ll say “Good night!” There is NO ESCAPE When you choose to abuse In darkness you’ll sink In the malice YOU designed See how YOU like Your own twisted mind Abandoned agony Screams of fright Your own pounding fist Waking you in the night Poetic justice Sweet irony You think you are something But you’ll not go free You’ll be the one Crying in shame Living in hell In eternal pain There is NO ESCAPE When you choose to abuse Crushed heart Shattered soul Nothing left You’ll pay the toll For the measure you gave You will receive There is NO ESCAPE And no one will grieve By Donna Wright © all rights reserved When you forgive an abuser that does not mean that God forgives them. The abuser must repent and change or face the torments of hell. I choose to forgive by asking and TRUSTING God to handle the destiny of the abuser as JESUS see’s fit.
