A poet’s pen Nature down to earth Emotions on its own - TopicsExpress

A poet’s pen Nature down to earth Emotions on its own apathetic Art just falling short of apologetic Comes alive under the tip Of a quill In the hands of an artist Black ink painting green on ripe leaves And bringing out the beauty in dead foliage Separating darkness from the blue cloud And making it rain The potency of life in black and white Would make a grown man want to cry A pen in the hands of a seasoned poet Can be said to be omnipotent and omnipresent It has the power to kill and bring alive That soul jumping around In the creativity of your mind It takes you on a journey To the east, while seated in the west It takes you to the past And brings to you a glimpse of the future Life definitely seems much better in black and white A single word deliciously crafted on a piece of leaf By a skillful hand with an ink of passion and zeal Would propel social change Bring about a resolute revolution The same way it would bring peace To a land plagued by war, grief and conflict Feed the poor, appease the dull And empower the feeble Such is the power Of a pen in the hands of a poet. This is what i believe a poets pen should be able to do, hopefully one day my pen would make an effort significant enough to touch a soul or two (c) Ajijola Habeeb; The Beloved
