A police officer and another motorist have been taken to hospital after a crash at Forestville this evening. About 8:45pm on Sunday 13 July 2014, a highway patrol car was stopped at an RBT site on Warringah Road when a Toyota Camry crashed into the rear of the police vehicle. A male Sergeant who was standing at the back of the highway patrol car was hit by the vehicle and sustained suspected hip injuries while the Toyota driver sustained head injuries. Both men were treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for examination. Their injuries are not believed to be serious. The highway patrol car and the Toyota sustained extensive damage as a result of the crash and are expected to be towed from the scene. Motorists are being warned of traffic delays in the area with all eastbound lanes of Warringah Road closed and a contra-flow in place.
