A political note: (please take a minute to read) Its is a little late to write about this but its been like a blunt pin inside my head for a long time. A few months back our country went through a series of dramatic changes in the political phase. The rise of gonojagoron moncho and followed by protests of Hefajote Islam in the capital. I am basing my note on one few direct points and my views about the changes that has brought around. Any criticism and discussion is welcome. First lets talk about the gonojagoron moncho which was formed for death penalty prosecution of war criminals who are evidently leaders of the biggest Islamic party of the country. When I saw the staging of protests I was overjoyed by the participation of youth in todays politics and I was in support of the uprising. But as time went by it became obvious that the war tribunal was corrupted by the ruling government. The biggest proof was the Leak of Skype conversation with one of the judge. But in this midst the main effect of the uprising in Shahbag was it split the country into two divisions- either you are a shahbagi or you are a rajakar. So has been the separation between the two major political groups in Bangladesh- either you are a supporter of India or you are still a East Pakistani. Lets leave this part hanging here for a while. Come to the Hefajote Islam demonstration in Dhaka 5th may. A demonstration is democratic right. Just like Shahbag demanded a change of the national courts decision the Hefajote Islam demanded some change is the political constitution. If Shahbag can be done peacefully with security from national forces then why cant they be given the same rights as well? Leaving that and me not knowing what really happened during the 5th may night the number of deaths in newspapers ranged from 25-2000. The funniest thing I noticed during that time was people debating about how many died. WHY does it matter HOW MANY DIED? The point is people died and he/she will never come back. he wont spend the next Eid with his family or friends. Imagine your dad or brother getting killed. Here I shall quote Killing for peace is like screwing for virginity. The people at 1971 are dead and may Allah grant them Jannah but why kill more people in the name of them. How are you justifying yourself over this. I saw somebody say that the Hujurs of Hefajote Islam are empty headed zombies -I quote. But these are the people who have come from our roots- our villages- and these are the people who I have learnt my Kalima from and so had your father and grandfather. We are not advanced enough to reach this people with our modern mindset but least we can do is kill them. Leaving this thread at this point I continue to... Felani murder and other thousands murdered in the border by BSF. Dear Shahbag and Hefajote Islam where is your demonstration now? 1971 was back then but this is now. Doesnt it hurt Bangladeshs pride now that the killer runs free even after trial? Ekattorer chetona?!? 2013er chetonar ki hoilo? Doesnt it hurt when Indian players disagree to play in Bangladesh or with Bangladesh? Doesnt it hurt when India builds another legacy like Farakka Barge which threatens our cultivation or power plant which will eminently destroy a national heritage?!? Why cant people say lets hang the war criminals And protest Indian oppression?? We are not Rajakars. We are not Shahbagi. We are Bangladeshi. What to do? I dont know. I can do little inside my bubble accept try to raise awareness. I wish I could. But change is possible. If Imraan khan in Pakistan can rise with a new party from ashes and rise against US. I believe there is still hope we all can make a better Bangladesh and one day we shall see a leader amongst us. Signing off.. Thanks for reading.
