A politician Calls for Resuscitation of Avutu Modern Poultry A political stalwart, Prince Chukwuocha wants the Imo government to resuscitate the Avutu Modern Poultry from its present comatose to boost the socio-economic activities of the people of the area. Prince Chukwuocha made the appeal during the Egbe-Nkwu Avutu Obowo cultural festival held on Thursday 5th September, 2013 at Eke Avutu Market square. He noted that the reactivation of the poultry would enhance the economy of the state and provide jobs to over two thousand youths in the state. Prince Chukwuocha was of the view that the measures would help to stem the tide of kidnappings, arm-robbery, and other social vices that are rearing their ugly head in the state. He maintained that leaving the poultry in its present state was not in the best interest of the people. He then called on the political office holders to keep to their campaign promises and strive to impact positively on the lives of the people they are representing. Prince Chukwuocha said that the Egbe Nkwu festival drawn from Palm plantation for which the people of Avutu were known for, has become a uniting force for the sons and daughters of the land to come and chart a way forward for the people of the area. The event attracted dignitaries from far and near including Ambassador Matthew Nwagwu, Alhaji Abubakar, Ho Golden Nwokeoma. Highlight of the ceremony was the observation of a minute silence for the traditional Prime Minister of the area, Chief Samson Nwaiwu and a prayer offered for the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha by HRH,Eze Abel C.
