A popular Northern Soul music night at the Friarage Hospita has raised around £600 for the Friarage MRI scanner appeal. People flock from all over the country to enjoy Northern Soul events at the Friarage Hospital – the only venue in the North east that plays oldies exclusively. A music and dance movement that emerged in northern England in the late 1960s, Northern Soul is about the passion in listening, dancing and collecting rare black American soul music based on the heavy beat and fast tempo of the mid-1960s Tamla Motown sound The next Northern soul and Motown night is Saturday 7 June in the recreation hall at the hospital. For more information contact Dave and Julie Robertson on 01609 777535 or 07957 881190. A big thank you to everyone who joined in the fun on the night and to Northallerton Soul Club for their help in supporting the scanner appeal.
