A popular journalist is shot and injured in a targeted attack. The community and the media house he worked for make loud protests. The government sets up a high-powered judicial commission to determine what exactly had happened. The media house concerned presses on with its allegations directly blaming the ISI and its chief of involvement in the murderous attack. The ministry of defence lodges a complaint with Pemra, demanding punitive action against the channel and its mother organisation. Pemra issues a show-cause notice to both. Fine! So far, so good. Nobody can quarrel with that. But then, before the judicial commission could begin its investigation, before the channel could file its response to the Pemra notice, the channel suddenly goes of the air. What does all this amount to is: I, the judge, the jury and the hangman. Go, due process, go take a long vacation in Hawaii.
