A popular rock climbing exercise, frenchies are an advanced pull up routine that build vertical pulling strength and isometric (lock-off) strength. The isometric or lock-off hold means that you are gripping a something with enough strength to shift the other hand to another hold. This move takes isometric and dynamic strength. Isometric meaning holding a static position and dynamic meaning the ability to reach up to the next hold. Frenchies can be broken down into several steps: Step 1: Pull up from a full hang to shoulders at bar level. Hold 5 sec. Step 2: Let back down to a full hang and pull up so that the angle of the upper and lower arm is around 90 degrees. Hold 5 sec. Step 3: Let back down to a full hang and pull up so that the angle of the upper and lower arm is around 135 degrees. Hold 5 sec. Step 4: Let back down to a full hang. Step 5. Repeat steps 1-4. Steps 1-4 make up 1 frenchy repetition. youtu.be/wsJ41rVHyIA
