A post-doctoral position is available at IFREMER in Nouméa New Caledonia to work within the AMBIO project on underwater video Objective: Characterizing the status of coastal fish assemblages and related habitats from underwater video Tasks: -Participate in field work and image analysis -Analyse existing and collected data by implementing and developing appropriate statistical modelling. Data are highly replicated over space and time. Expected outcomes include a range of biodiversity indicators at several spatial scales. Spatial and temporal patterns of indicators will be investigated with respect to environmental and anthropogenic factors, in particular protection status, from both statistical modelling and mapping. -Disseminate and discuss outcomes with managers of Marine Protected Areas and World Heritage sites Expected profile: -PhD in marine ecology or fisheries science with advanced statistical skills, or PhD in biostatistics -Good knowledge of the R software -Knowledge of GIS -Strong interpersonal skills to work within a multidisciplinary team and to communicate with non-scientific audiences Duration : 18 months, beginning Nov 1st Send applications : letter and resume to [email protected] Deadline : August 20th --
