A prayer request with more details from Bishop Julian Dobbs from the CANA East Diocese. (RES has a few students, a couple if alum, and many friends in this Diocese -- so please also uphold this Diocese and its work in your prayers as well.) The Convocation Of Anglicans in North America 6731 Curran Street | McLean | VA 22101 Urgent Prayer for Kidnapped Girls In Nigeria Prayer Request From The Missionary Bishop Of CANA Bishop Julian Dobbs is calling for urgent prayer for the mostly Christian School girls in Nigeria as the leader of Boko Haram says they are slaves whom Allah has instructed him to sell. The names of 180 teenage girls taken captive by the Islamist militants on the night of April 14, have been released and can be found here. The bishop said, Please pray for them, as well as all their families, asking that Almighty God would deliver them from the hands of their captors. Around 50 of the girls managed to escape, but two have died from snakebites. On Sunday night (May 4), a further eight girls, aged between 12 and 15, were captured from a Christian-majority area that has frequently been targeted by Boko Haram militants. Bishop Dobbs is in regular contact with the leadership of the Church of Nigeria [Anglican Communion] and is associated directly with Barnabas Aid who is working with partners in Nigeria to provide trauma counseling for returning Christian girls and their families at an appropriate future point. +Julian M.
