A preacher once said that you cannot talk about faith without making mention of father Abraham: the father of faith. However, is it possible that there could have been a contradiction in the Bible as it pertains to Abraham and his faith? Why? The Bible clearly says that, He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith...-Rom 4:20. Yet the same Bible gives an account of how he fell upon his face and laughed when God told him that he would have a son whiles he was 99 yrs and his wife was about 90 years old-Gen 17:17. In fact, later on, his wife (Sarah) also laughed when God spoke on the matter on another occasion when He came to dine with Abraham until God said: is any thing too hard for the LORD?-Gen 18:14. Wow! This isnt a contradiction because what mattered was Abrahams response when God left. The Bible says, that on that selfsame day, Abraham fulfilled his part of the convenant! Indeed, it was the corresponding action of faith that counted with God. This is why Jesus explained that the son who told his father that he would not ran the errand for him but later repented and did it is the one who did his fathers will and not the son who said yes but eventually did not go. Thus Paul was consistent with the account of Moses when he said that, And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Saras womb(old woman who is also barren) :he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being FULLY PERSUADED that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform.-Rom 4:19-21 May we learn from father Abraham! Can you say Amen?!!
