A press conference was organized today regarding one patient Mr. Sri Narayan Choubey, age – 72 years/male, resident of - East Tilak Nagar, Lohiya Nagar, Kankarbagh, Patna (Bihar) who was operated upon by Dr. Ajit Pradhan, Chief Cardiac Surgeon at Jeevak Heart Hospital & Research Institute, Patna on 25.07.2014. The patient was suffering from Critical Left Main coronary artery disease with recurrent rest angina. What makes this case most unusual is that when the chest was opened there was a huge tumor over the heart. Dr. Pradhan resected the tumor and then did the Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting. The patient did very well and was discharged on 02.08.2014. This is the 2nd case in the world being reported where a patient has undergone Resection of a mediastinal tumor along with Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting simultaneously in the same sitting. This is indeed a very rare surgical and difficult case to handle.
