A prestigious vehicle manufacturer is looking to expand its research and development team specific to welding and joining technologies. Experience of validating innovative joining technologies from concept through to production handover is a necessity. Commutable from: Coventry, Stratford, Redditch, Solihull, Rugby, Hinckley, Northampton Salary: £ 30,000 - £ 50,000 p.a. Suitable for: Joining Engineer, Welding Engineer, Process Engineer, Research Associate, Research Assistant, Metallurgist The Role Due to a rapidly evolving product range, there is an urgent requirement to undertake extensive research into alternative welding / joining processes. This is a broad role that will cover all activity from research through to production delivery: Material Selection Weld evaluation (quality, speed, cost, feasibility) Post-weld requirements (cooling, treatment) Non-destructive testing Production trials The Person Ideally of graduate calibre (but not essential), you will possess a qualification in metallurgy, materials science, welding or mechanical engineering. Candidates should possess at least 2 years experience within a relevant environment. Automotive experience is preferred, although candidates from aerospace, defence or research organisations will be considered. You will also possess excellent knowledge of at least two aspects of the job responsibilities listed above, although extensive training will be provided in the other areas Being a flexible role, you will also be required to travel between sites to support trialling and launch activity.
