A pretty biased article against Sheriff Joe and the MASH unit. It is interesting that they asked Heather Allen from HALO for comment. If you have not heard of Heather, she runs the rescue that by some secret agreement gets first pick of any dog taken into Maricopa County Animal Control...so she gets all the good adoptable dogs and puppies. However, HALO is also the group the routinely pulls puppies away from their mothers, leaving the mothers to die by needle at Animal Control while HALO makes money adopting the puppies out. Further, HALO is not no kill, if you adopt a dog from HALO and there are issues, HALO tell you to take it back to Maricopa County Animal Control where the dog will most likely be killed as an owner surrender. With regards to Mickey, this story is also flawed. By agreement, Mickey is let out of his cell at least 3 times a day, if not more. As such, Mickey does have a different status than the rest of the dogs at MASH. With regards to the other dogs at MASH, the article is correct in that there are several other dogs who are not adoptable. They are in their cells for hours at a time...and they never will be adopted. The Sheriff does the best he can for those dogs. They are fed, groomed, receive the best Vet care possible, and love from the inmates. Definitely more love and attention they received while they were being trained to fight. So why should these dogs be killed? It is real easy to sit back behind your computer and type that those dogs should be euthanized in a humane way. But you go down, and look into those dogs eyes, see them play in the yard...then you pick up the needle and kill them..... Heather Allen you are a real piece of work, and you disgust us..... azcentral/longform/life/az-narratives/2014/11/01/inside-arpaios-pet-shelter-where-pets-get-new-life--or-life-sentence/18356845/
