A project by Malta UNESCO Youth Association: Name: YouDemocracy Type: Youth Democracy Projects 1.3 Dates: 14th July- 19th July 2014 (6 days) Participants needed: 6 participants +1 leader Age: 18-25 Location: Seville, Spain Application Deadline: Wednesday 2nd April Costs: Travel costs 50% reimbursed, maximum budget of 250€ for travel tickets reimbursable. Food and accommodation 100% free. 10 EUR Participation fee + Membership fee of 5 EUR Host: Escuela Cultura de Paz Countries: Malta, Romania, United Kingdom Project Description: The project YouDemocracy will group 36 young people in Seville, Spain. The aim of the project is to encourage the active participation of youth in democratic life and discuss their participation in the next European Parliament elections, planned for May 2014. Topics that will be tackled include formulating proposals to Members of the European Parliament, the European electoral system and how the EU affects your daily life. Prior to the seminar an informal informative event to raise awareness amongst youth about the functioning of the European Parliament and the European electoral system will be held with MUYA and participants. During the seminar, young people will: share their experiences and results of the informal informative event; participate in a guided visit to the Andalusian parliament and the city of Seville; meet with those responsible of decision-making at the local level; and finally participate in a multicultural fair that will group young people and representatives of local youth associations, educational centres, youth information centres and Public Authorities.
