A proposed millage increase for the Centerpoint School District in Amity failed to receive enough votes during the annual school election in Pike County on Tuesday. The tax was voted down with 407 votes against and only 132 for the proposal. The district said the 4.25 millage increase would have allowed them to construct a new high school for grades 9 through 12. In the South Pike County School District, Trent Cox defeated Terry Murphy in Zone 2, 42 to 22 votes. Steve Conly, running unopposed, received 12 votes in Zone 4.
