A psychological research conducted by a sporting body revealed the top 3 sentences parents can say to their children to express their support before and after they take part in competitions: BEFORE 1. Have fun 2. Do you best 3. I love you AFTER 1. Did you have fun? 2. Im proud of you 3. I love you As for teens, the top statement they loved hearing: I love watching you. All these may sound simple. Yet to children (from primary school to teens), these words mean a lot. To them, it meant that Dad and Mum supported and cared about them regardless of how they performed. With the start of a new academic year comes our childrens involvement in their extra-curricular activities. As parents, while we want our children to excel in these activities, we need to be careful not to pressurize our children. The best thing that we can do for our children is to let them know that they are loved, and that we enjoy watching them as they participate in their sport/activity.
