A question for my hysterical...er, historical friends: when it is right to take artifacts from a grave and put them on display? One of the big arguments against salvaging artifacts from the Titanic is that its a grave, and the reason why you cant salvage artifacts from the Arizona or the Bismarck is because theyre war graves. Yet archaeologists did take stuff out of King Tuts tomb and display it, and I saw personal items of the crew of the Hunley on display down in Charleston. So when do we cross the line between historical preservation and grave robbing? Im interested in everyones opinions, as I posed this question to my online history class today.
