A question of Safety I fully understand the inherent risk of injury in sport and exercise. I am certain the players of the GRID league also understand this risk. I also believe that the league has a duty to ensure the activities they program, should be done so with an eye toward how safely can a player execute the movement? The founder of the league has stated that there is only one speed and that is, fast. The athletes appear to be super human and on many levels they are, but they are still subject to exhaustion, which can leave them vulnerable. Teton, is the next match format and snatches are in race 2, Mirror, and the triads, race 9 and 10. In the past, the league has set up the athletes facing one another in mirror and three across, one behind the other, in the triads. Someone left a comment on one of my previous post suggesting the alignment should be set, so that if an athlete misses the attempted lift, the bar or athlete does not have the potential to land on a teammate. Stagger the bars in mirror or make certain referees keep them safely separated. Set the bars up in a V for the triads. Everyone understands the inherent risk in football, concussions are part of that game, but that still did not absolve the league from its duty to player safety. The league has stated they have borrowed ideas from all the major sports to present the GRID, the safety plan should be straight plagiarized. Please build on the momentum provided by the last two matches, and not derail the movement, with an injury that could be avoided with some planning with an eye toward player safety.
