A question was asked what it means when dogs are tagged for rescue. JHS works with many rescue partners. Those partners help us in our mission to save lives! We are often able to send more than 100 pets to rescue each month, and are very excited with several new partners including Carthage Humane and Humane Society of Missouri. If we did not partner with these groups, we could never save the number of lives we save every month. Rescues choose a large variety of dogs and in December, chose 65 VINTAGE DOGS who had been in our shelter for more than 30 days. Rescues often have pre-approved homes waiting. JHS does not put any animal to sleep because it has been with us too long, or because we run out of room. Rescue is a critical piece of that puzzle. So, dogs that are tagged for rescue have a place to go and are just awaiting vetting and clearance from our vet. Even with all the dog tagged for rescue, we still have more than 200 dogs and puppies available for adoption; these dogs are waiting and hoping to be picked!
