A quick Bill Flynn story that shows how he never wanted to humiliate a defeated opponent: After a game where Emerson Carter had rushed for like 1,000 yards and a dozen touchdowns -- get the point -- Coach Flynn raved about how Carter was just too much for the defense and how he had his way with the opposing team. It was great stuff, but then, he paused and asked that I not quote him because it might sound like he was trying to make the other team look bad. That was Bill Flynn: humble in defeat, but more humble in victory.
