A quick discussion about time travel and terminator. Skynet takes over the world after being created by humans. The only one to oppose Skynet is the leader of the human resistance John Conner. Lets call this Time Line A. Skynet in the future sends a terminator back in time to kill sarah conner. Skynet should surely be aware that there was no terminator sent back in time back in 1985 in its own time line. So therefor, Skynet just sent a Terminator back in time to create an entirely new time line that differs from Time Line A. After the Terminator is sent back in time, this creates Time Line B, a time line where Sarah Conner is now aware of terminators and teaches her son how to prepare for battle and goes on about the apocolaypse happening etc. We are now in the future with Skynet having taken over and opposed by John Conner again. However, now Skynet has history records of the terminator going back to 1985 and failing. So now, this Time Line B Skynet, has to send the same Terminator back into the past, knowing that its going to fail, just to correct the time line and make everything make sense. In additon to this, it sends a second terminator, an upgraded model the T-1000 back in time to kill John Conner when he is just a child, thus creating Time Line C. Time Line C, Sarah gets attacked by the T-800, followed by John being attacked by the T-1000. In the process they also kill the guy that invents Skynet and blow up Cyberdine systems to stop Skynet ever happening. I cant begin to explain the contradictions this would have, because Skynet now needs to exist in order to send terminators back to the past, otherwise this time line cant happen, terminators are never sent back into the past, the time line begins and continues with no terminators coming back in time to interefere and we are right back to Time Line A, EXCEPT! The terminators are already back in time and have created this HUGE paradox. I could keep talking about the time line for another hour, but the point im making is, Skynet is really really really stupid. By the way, Im watching terminator 2, its still one of the best movies ever made.
