A quick reminder of this by Evan Beaver It takes countries with established nuclear industries almost ten years to go from lets build a plant to generating electricity. So wed, at the absolute earliest, be getting nuclear electricity commencing in about 2023. UMPNER reckoned 15 years is more likely. Ill let you figure out how much longer than the base 9 years *you* think itll take to plan, locate, finance, insure, defeat opposition, and build even a single nuclear plant in a country with no existing nuclear industry. Then theres a period of emissions payback - energy payback on a nuclear plant is about 6 years, so probably about the same for emissions. So nuclear power as a response to climate change wouldnt start having a positive impact in Australia til around 2029 at the earliest, and more likely 2034.
