A quick reminder that TONIGHT! WEDNESDAY 9TH JULY – we are hosting an Aboriginal writers’ night. Organised by Yamaji Arts, all Aboriginal writers, poets, story tellers and songwriters are invited to come along and share their words. This is a Public event – everyone is welcome – so please come along and celebrate our local talented Aboriginal wordsmiths. Open mike for Aboriginal writers. Wine and cheese, $5 entry. Starts at 6.30pm. See attached flyer for more details. To celebrate NAIDOC week we also have a number of great visual arts events happening at ACDC. In collaboration with Yamaji Arts we have an exhibition of paintings by local Aboriginal artists in our Front Gallery, including works by some of the Midwest’s premier Aboriginal artists, and some works by current residents at Greenough Regional Prison. In the Middle Gallery we have works from further afield - some beautiful water colour works by some Mullewa ladies who participated in a Durack class last term; and from Wiluna ladies a gorgeous animation of a storm in the desert, and a video of traditional emu preparation and cooking. All wonderful works = so come on in and have a look, and maybe take home a piece of beautiful, local art.
