A quick thought on archived shows... When I watch a show and - TopicsExpress

A quick thought on archived shows... When I watch a show and someone has something important to say, I find myself having trouble going back and finding that moment (after some time) while looking through the archives. My simple suggestion, is to sequentially number the shows in order of broadcasts or something along those lines. I would think this would be almost obvious but I also thought of some excuses that might be arrived at during such a consideration... One would be that there are so many archived shows that nobody knows what episode number a particular show would be... who cares! Perhaps just pick a (reasonable) number and go for it. Another would be that there are so many archived shows it would be trouble to go back and re-label them all... so what! No we dont! That isnt an excuse to start clarifying things now. At this point I fell like I need to bring in another observation to buttress my suggestion. And that is the uses of social media itself. I dont know if people here quite realize the power YouTube at the moment. That it is not just a place to host videos. It is a social media site of its own. Right now, we, at the NCG, are simply using YouTube as a host for our broadcasts and archived shows. Our shows often carry their title alone, some dont even have the guest listed (this has improved recently) and most do not have any synopsis or even links back to FB in the description to join the conversation! So, the YT searches dont have any information to work with thus massively limiting exposure. So, why is all this relevant you night ask? Let me give you an example. If you look up to the top-right-hand-side of this FB group at the number of members for The Cult of Honesty, at the time of this post we are at 988. Now, look at the number of YT subscribers (https://youtube/user/theNewCovenantGroup) for the NCG. At the time of this post it is 1,541. So, whats the big deal? Well if we take into account the time each has been open and available, also the naming convention oversights mentioned prior, as well as the rate in which each grows you can see that we might be overlooking YT in terms of exposure. I think a potential analogy would be the small little webcast from Austin, TX you might have heard of called The Atheist Experience. Whatever you think about the personalities or the show itself is irrelevant here. Look at what happened. Fans decided to post clips of the show; most of which had titles, descriptions and links! But, if you take the time to look back through the archive of the NCG on YT and do a search on the channel for your favorite NCG show then look at the results. Youll find it very hard to remember in what episode was the topic or discussion you were looking for, they all start to blend together. So, what do yall think? Would you like to be able to reference topics and points in a much more user friendly manner? All with a simple, easy to understand labeling system? Or, perhaps Im barking up the wrong tree and none of this really matters in the long run. I guess Im saying that by not having interesting titles, guest lists, detailed tailored descriptions, shorter clips of specific points—and perhaps most importantly, show numbers—we may, unknowingly, be making it harder to move the conversation forward.
