A quick thought on the second amendment The second amendment - TopicsExpress

A quick thought on the second amendment The second amendment serves the same purpose today as it did when it was created, and then some. Tyranny aside, what force outside of our country would dare roll up on our shore, fighting not only our military but a citizenry that is armed to the teeth? Now, there are those who say that there is no way we could ever actually stop the government if they really wanted to fight the people. Do you not realize that the Taliban, armed with pea shooters and homemade bombs by comparison, successfully defended their country twice against the two greatest superpowers the world has ever seen? Yet somehow, we the people could not do the same against the same? Wake up. If nothing else we learned at least one important thing from the war in Afghanistan; a gorilla style insurgency is very effective against a bigger stronger enemy. In the event that our government would ever try it against us, I would like to think that we could certainly do an even better job than the Taliban. So in reality, the only real credible threat to our democracy is not from outside our borders but from within. And as farfetched as you might think that is, do you think that taking our guns away would make it any less likely? Think about it. Who would really benefit from the disarming of America? Americans? I think not.
