A quick timeline of Fergeuson. Because I like knowing what has actually happened. Saturday 11:48 AM – Emergency Services response to a call of a sick person 11:51 AM – Report of a Robbery. The dispatcher gives a description of robber and suspect is walking toward the Quick Trip convenience store 12:01 PM – Officer encounters Michael Brown and friend. Brown is shot to death. Brown has no prior criminal record. 12:04 PM – A second officer arrives. 12:05 PM – Officer Supervisor arrives. Ambulance sent original sent for sick person, stops to assess Brown. Sunday 10:00 AM – St. Louis County Police Chief Joe Belmar has press conference. States that Brown physically assaulted officer, there was a struggle and Brown reached for officer’s gun. One shot was fired in the police car, which others followed by other gunshots outside of the car. This is in conflict with the two witnesses Sunday Evening – Candlelight vigil turns violent. Riot occurs and a dozen businesses are vandalized and looted. Two police officers suffer injuries but are not named. Sunday night is the only night in which violence, arrests or injuries is reported until Wednesday night. (That I know of. I have been looking. If you find something, please let me know.) Monday 5 AM – 1st day of school is cancelled 7 AM – City officials report on death threats due to shooting 10 AM – Impromptu gathering in front of Police Department. Seven are arrested. 11 AM – FBI announce they will do a parallel investigation 2 PM – States they will release the name of the accused by Noon on Tuesday 4 PM – Parents of Brown hold a press conference. They ask to stop the violence and demand justice for their son. 6 PM – NAACP hold a meeting with community members and leaders. 8 PM – Several gather on Florissant Avenue and tear gas is used to disperse the crowd. No injuries or violence reported Tuesday -12 10 AM – Protestors gather at St Louise Police Department for a peaceful protest. A list of demands is given relating to the investigation of Brown’s Death. 3 PM – Officials charge nine people in relation to looting across the two previous nights 7 PM – Governor, Mayor and other public officials ask for a peaceful protest 10 PM – Protests continue into the night. No violence reported Wednesday - 13 10 AM – Several volunteer groups gather to help clean up the streets and for repairs - City officials ask for protests to be held during the day. 3 PM – Justice Department opens a federal civil rights investigation 4 PM – St. Louis County Prosecutor discloses that Brown had no criminal background 6 PM – School District postpones first day of school until August 18. - Police detain two reporters – Washington Post and the Huffington Post at a McDonald’s, when they clear a McDonalds that the media affiliates were using as a base of operation. 9 PM – Police launches tear gas at crowd. During the commotion, an Al Jazeera America crew is hit with tear gas. 10 PM – City of St. Louis Alderman Antonio French is arrested for unlawful assembly Thursday 6 AM – Police announce 16 people have been arrested and two officers injured 7 AM – City Alderman Antonio French is released from jail without formal charges and posting Bond. 11 AM – Governor Nixon arrives in Fergueson 3:30 PM – Governor Nixon announces Thursday that Missouri Highway Patrol to take control of security. 6 PM – Protests are met peacefully with state troopers and no violence occurs.
