America is still the richest country in the world and Im beginning to believe the greediest. The concept of being able to acquire wealth through hard work when the pay isnt even a living wage is a fallacy. We were told that unions were sucking the life out of business and that if we just get rid of them and give big business tax breaks youll get more of the pie; but guess what, that didnt happen. Instead they gave themselves better pay and benefits and hoarded the rest. As unions declined in America so have workers pay and their benefits. And now theyre after our pensions. The wealthy and corporations profits have been going up every year even during the recession while employee wages stagnated. If you think the wealthy and corporations care about employees or America youre dreaming and have not been paying attention. We have enough history and data to show what works and what doesnt. Building up the poor and middle class is the way to go for a strong economy. Taking care of the wealthy and corporations and putting the entire tax burden on the poor and middle class with low wages is detrimental to the economy and the American Dream.
