A rant by me for all of you: I would rather pass on this than pass this on. The phrase doggie parents annoys me. As does fur kid, fur baby, substitute child, pet parent, dog mommie or any other politically correct phrase for your differential animal entity. Note I did not say dogs annoy me although I will never own one. I will say this rant one time and let you all know how I feel. Its everything about these continual drivel posts that makes people think they can humanize an animal and expect others to treat it as a child with human emotions. The main reason people like dogs is because dogs suck up. What does that say about the owner if they get this desperate to post something because their dog sucks up to them? It may mean they are individuals who have replaced lacking human contact or compassion in their lives with their pet or pets. Thats a lot of baggage. Then the same people believe it is okay to bestow the bad behaviour of their pet onto others like allowing it to jump on a child, or lick a stranger and they may allow the dog to act out for their own gratification from attention or bring it into inappropriate public areas. (Examples - When I was a kid I dont remember any jackasses letting their dogs poop at the beach in the sand or pee in the water where people were relaxing. Dogs did not travel dangerously down the road in their owners laps (or french kiss them in the MacDonalds drive thru - you know who you are!), when people showed up at someones house with their dog - before bringing it inside they used to ask if it was all right to do so.) Do you have your dog on your family tree? - not yet you dont and if you like that idea you ARE a weirdo. Would you let it babysit your niece? Does your dog help with meals or wash the dishes - and I mean at the sink not with its tongue!!? Is it married to your brother - legally? Does it give you a drive to work and take care of you when you are sick in bed? Does your dog care about you in the same way you care about it? Are you saving for its college fund? No, and it did not give any one of you that damn Christmas gift last year, that was your spouse or partner. Wake up. It IS a pet and you clean its poo because you feed it. My word! Get a life! You are a dog owner. You possess and have control over your dog as property. You are not its steward, caretaker, mother, father, parent, or guardian. It is not your slave, but you are the owner and it is the pet.
