A real granddaddy of a traffic jam struck downtown in March of 1964 - S.R.C. Men were stopping roughly 25% of the traffic on the 6th St. Bridge to determine where traffic comes from & where it’s going, It may be distorting the figures, since many motorists are detouring by way of the Catlettsburg-Kenova Bridge because of traffic. This was designed to help the S.R.C. determine the need for a 3rd bridge across the Ohio. But, the 2nd bridge for the West Huntington area is still on the drawing boards, & it’s a tough hard road for the long-stalled driver to imagine it any other way than they found it that day.
